The web in this day and age grows at a tremendous rate. The
normal search engines are less and less able to keep pace with this
growth, and as time passes, the results they turn up are of less and
less use. The Open Links Directory intends to provide the
largest free directory on the internet, with a view to fighting the
serious rot in reliable links that currently exists.
The Staffs of the paid search directories, and the ppc searches
and the ffa sites are unable to keep up the fast growth of sites on
the internet. A large number of the links you follow from any
search via the everyday search engines, lead to missing links,
invalid links, mirror sites, and even totally misrepresented sites.
The Open Links Directory aims to allow the internet to provide
its own directory area with the information that is of use to the
people on the internet, and to the people they know, and allow them
to cut out the rubbish, just keeping the best for the use of
all.
The Open Links Directory follows the the aims of the Open Source
movement in Computing and the Internet. The aim is for a major
directory that is 100% free. There is no cost to add a site
link to the directory, nor to data from the directory. The Open
Links Directory data is free to anyone and everyone.
